TITLE
IP ARCHITECT / SENIOR IP ENGINEER
DESCRIPTION
This position in Airespring will be focused primarily on working with network engineers to design and qualify new network architectures based on business requirements. The candidate is expected to lead architecture design and validations as well as test new network equipment. The candidate will be exposed to multiple IP network platforms, primarily Cisco core routers and switches. The ideal candidate will be versed in service provider network implementations such as BGP, MPLS, Voice Prioritization, Session Border Controllers, Carrier grade redundancy design; Layer 2 and Layer 3 Networking and ARIN Management & Assignment. You will work with a small team of network engineers, in a fast-paced and challenging environment. Direct experience in service provider network design is mandatory.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, engineer,and evolve Airespring's Data network infrastructure to meet current and future business needs. Evolution needs include, but are not limited to:
- IP backbone development
- IP Peering
- Act as subject matter expert for all IP-routing related issues, providing Tier 4 support to Network Operations. Mentor junior and mid-level network engineers.
- Lead hardware and software evaluations, contributing to the ongoing maintenance and evolution of Airespring's IP infrastructure. Manage timelines and resources with associated projects.
- Generate test plans based on network design requirements. Publish test reports for peer review.
- Produce network procedures and configuration guides for use by Network Engineering & Operations, promoting consistency across the network.
- Work closely with cross-organizational teams on the implementation and deployment of new network services and technologies.
- Own the technical relationship with equipment vendor(s), ensuring Airespring's interests are represented in future software and hardware.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Direct experience in service provider network design is mandatory.
- Theoretical and practical application of protocols required.
- Expert knowledge in TCP/IP, OSPF, and BGP required.
- Strong background in Cisco IOS, routers, and switches required.
- Meticulous lab testing capabilities, including generating test plans based on technical requirements.
- Theoretical and practical application of Layer 2 VPNs (MPLS)
- Experience using packet generators and analyzers desirable: Ethereal, Wireshark, etc.
- Experience in inter-networking.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven project management skills required.
- Must work well in team environment.
- VoIP experience is a plus.
